Once again Ford made its decision and once again their decision is a VACUTEC®.  In 2001 Ford first equipped every one of their North American dealers - free of charge - with VACUTEC® smoke machine part number 218-00001 (built in collaboration with Ford).  Now Ford has decided that their new advanced vehicles need an all new advanced leak tester, with features to accommodate current and future Ford vehicles.   Ford has now approved this tester (also built in collaboration with Ford) containing a built-in nitrogen generator - among other new feature benefits.

Utilizing the latest patented technologies, this VACUTEC® is the most advanced yet simple to operate, Evaporative Emissions System (EVAP) Tester available today. It is the only smoke machine on the market approved for EVAP leak-testing of Flex-Fuel vehicles. Flex-Fuel vehicles need special care when performing EVAP leak-tests due to the highly oxygenated and volatile nature of alcohol fuel vapors.  Special care must be taken never to add compressed air, containing oxygen, into the EVAP system since that can easily render the vapor space in the fuel tank combustible.

This VACUTEC® eliminates the risks of adding air with oxygen into the EVAP system due to its integrated PSA nitrogen generator system design. Simply connect the VACUTEC® to compressed air (shop air) and the machine automatically converts the air to high-purity nitrogen, never running out of nitrogen. The tester's special Diagnostic Smoke® vapor is always delivered to the vehicle in a safe inert medium. Its high nitrogen purity is guaranteed due to its computer-controlled nitrogen-purity monitor.
